Pretty girl . . . .

JKruse Mar 03, 2008 02:22 AM

This Loma female just shed this evening and, awww man, she just keeps gettin' purtier all the time. She's at about 25 inches, as thick as my thumb, and was an '06 baby -- not bad so far.
Russo, remember our chat at the LI show -- there's gotta be THE male to pair her up with out of your MANY Loma clutches. The mall parking lot is afoot. Nice zig-zags by the way on your newest acquisition -- try keeping these, k? LOL.

WOW! That is one beautiful animal. Is that bright orange typical of Loma's? I have a Blair's from Comstock. He's a pretty snake, but his orange is not close to that. Awesome!

Well, I've just began dabbling in alternas only within the last 2 years. I'm a zonata/triangulum connosieur by passion/history, but in my limited experience I've seen varying Lomas out there. My not-too-distant neighbor Mike Russo has some Lomas that are sweet, and he's been into the alternas as long as I've done my tricolors. Mike, if you're reading this (and I know you are...) why not throw up some Loma pics man. I'm learning little by little myself about alterna, with varying amounts of help from various folks. Needless to say I'm really enjoying them and have become so appreciative of locality. Never expected her to look THIS nice, and I don't think Mike did either, LOL. Thanks for the compliments as well.

Well, here's a pic of my WC Loma Alta, just to show the variability...She's not near the looker as Jerry's, but I love here anyway Mine also didn't have the luxury of being selectively bred for good looks, lol!

I have seen a few dark Loma's that look like that but I think that phase is alot more common around Langtry. Here is a Loma I found in 1998.

That is a darn good lookin' Loma alta blairs... very even/clean coloration...light grey looks nice with a good orange (of course black does too!). A real screamer ....

Max, they're ALL lookers in my opinion. Love alternas.

omg I've been looking for that type for a long time. It seems that sanderson has a lot of those and loma alta sometimes langtry, but gosh where can I get a gray band with such a beautiful bright orange and nice gray like that? Hopefully someone knows lol? Another beautiful one I've seen was plain black and gray although the bright orange with black is just as cool as one with light gray.

on where you live. If you're from up north, it's abit more of a challenge to get good locality alternas. I'd recommend perusing this site, particularly the alterna page site which lists verified breeders of authentic locale-specific alterna. I've posted a request before on this forum for Black Gap animals, and not a single response. SO, it's a crap shoot. I'm very happy to have acquired what I have thus far, but it takes some work sometimes (which I still have an issue with). Attached are pics of a beautiful pair of W. Langtry alterna that i hope to introduce to each other next year. Good luck!

Wow, nice pictures Jerry. Those gray bands are exactly what I want, you know, the coloration and bands are just perfect and the orange is clean also. I wonder if Merker reptiles has some of those. Just looked up some breeders and that website looks promising. Those 2 on the pic will produce great looking babies. Thanks for sharing!
