snakecharmed Aug 28, 2003 04:45 AM

My current supplier is just a bit too slow in getting them shipped out (1 week after they receive my payment is a bit ridiculous!)Who do you guys buy from and how long does it take them to ship out? Thanks, Christy

I usually use reptilefood.com with never a problem. This week was the first time I used worm man and it is just ridiculous. Costing me more for the days it takes them to get them shipped at the pet store then it does for the damn crickets I'm still waiting for. Took them 3 days just to tell me they are shipped, then 2-3 more days to get here. I LIVE IN THE SAME STATE. Just crazy. If I knew it was going to take this long I would have drove the 3 and a half hours and banged on the damn barn door, lol. WWW.reptilefood.com order them before 3pm get them next day by 12 can't beat it. I'm kicking myself for trying someone new. Never ever had to wait 6 days for crickets. Costing me 8 bucks a day just to feed my three babies. If I knew it was going to take this long I would have already put in a second order from reptilefood. I still might just do that found out today it will take 2-3 more days. Just crazy. I paid more then reptilefood too for crappy service and week long shipping for a 3 hour trip.

Thanks for showing me this cricket place. Never heard of them before and their prices for bulk are not that bad. How bad do they hit you up for shipping? Don't know how many you order but I order about 4000 crix and 1000 worms every week for crix. Once a month for worms with my cricket order shipped to New Jersey. Just trying to get an idea. Of course you might order less or more or worms and the shipping rate changes. Just want an idea. Thanks for any info.

We just ordered 1000 crickets from these people:
http://www.groomscricketfarm.com/
$14, shipping and all. (I get a discount 'cause I'm in Tennessee. Yay me! ) They should be here saturday.

For the amount you're ordering, you'll probably pay 72 dollars total, with 1000 superworms.

These folks ship FedEx 2nd day air.

Hope this helps.

I'm a long time Groom's user & am very satisified. Chris and his dad Wally are great people! They are in Georgia and offer cheaper prices for states nearby. Also the rates go down for the more you order.
Give them a try!

I normally order from wormman, but they do take a while to get back to you. No DOA's though. Plus they only ship out on mondays and tuesdays.

Based on another post my Mattman, I placed an order with reptilefood.com and and it'll be here tomorrow morning. Ridiculously fast.

WaGuy82 Aug 28, 2003 10:56 AM

By the way, I sent in the order last night, and they ship out the next day. I believe friday is the last day of the week that they ship out.

Mattman Aug 28, 2003 11:41 AM

Yes, reptilefood is fast, and has descent prices. If you order before 3pm eastern time they ship the same day, and will be at your house in the morning before 12 even with the afternoon shipping which is usually a dollar less. With morning my fed ex guy has them at my house by 9am. If you order after three they ship them the next day for next morning arrival. They ship Mon. thru Fri. Order on weekend and it's shipped on Monday for Tues. arrival. Super customer service too. I had one order come in bad cause of the weather. A new whole box was at my house next morning free of charge. They even took care of the shipping which they should, but some places make you pay either way even for doa's. Good place I just wanted to try someone new and suffered for it.

Here are my experiences:

Fluker Farms:
Pros: very fast shipping (will ship same day if ordered before 3 PM Eastern), excellent health--never have had any dead and generally live a long time
Cons: Only 1 shipping option (next day air) which is not unfairly priced for 1000 crickets but they do not give a discount for buying more. If you buy 2000 crickets shipping price is double that of buying 1000. Bad reputation as a company.

Reptilefood.com
Pros: very fast shipping (same as flukers), better prices, good customer service
Cons: I have found health to be subpar, have had dead crickets on arrival (however, they replace them free of charge) and crickets tend to not live as long for some reason

American Cricket Ranch
Pros: great prices for those who live close to southern california due to numerous shipping options. I choose ground service and get my package in one to two days for a shipping cost of $1.50. Excellent health.
Cons: none so far, have not had to deal with customer service and do not know if the crickets health would suffer if they had to be shipped farther.

I use superwormfarm.com. 1,000 crix are $9.00 and s&h is $6.00. If I order on Mon. they arrive by Wed. or Thurs. This isn't real speedy but I've had much slower. The crix are clean -I've had beetle problems with reptilefood.com and they took a week to arrive, plus the amount of crix was weak.

snakecharmed Aug 29, 2003 04:47 AM

I'll check them both out. Wow, you have to wait that long and they are in the same state? That is ridiculous! I know what you mean, it cost me a ton to feed my babies "pet store crickets" while I wait for my order to get here. I have 2 clutches and they are eating me out of house and home! Not to mention my adults and sub adults. Christy
