I was just wondering what all types of occupations the other snake lovers on here have. I'm an assistant manager at a grocery store. Nothing exciting, but it pays the bills and helps me put money into my expensive hobby.

I'm a stay at home dad and I stock shelves part time at Home Depot. I enjoy both jobs but the dad thing is the best! Prior to being a dad I was a zookeeper; first in a herp house and then with everything from pygmy mice to rhinos and hippos. Hope to get back to the zoo business at some point but right now, being a dad comes first.

Construction, last couple of years pretty much just install doors and windows, subbing through lowes.
I'm a carpenter, electrician, book keeper, salesman, computer tech, rat keeper, janitor, snake keeper and probably a few other jobs I have over looked. When you put it all under one title, I'm a reptile breeder.
I have made the majority of my income the last 15 years breeding reptiles. In 2001 I started with balls and built my collection while making a living breeding Burmese Pythons. Anybody that wants to complain about the price of balls, should try making a living breeding Burmese. The last year I bred Burmese, I had 900 eggs, I have hatched well over 10,000 snakes.
I'm also an electrical contractor. I keep my license active just in case, although I rarely use it.

I'm a CNC Machinist. We work mostly with stainless steel and aluminum mostly making parts for ski boats and jets. We also make a lot of other stuff like test bullets, motorcyle parts, etc.
In school, to become a technetium/technologist dealing with welding and robotics, but of course i want to get into breeding ball pythons *_^
Interesting thread. I'm a pathology techinician/mohs surgery technician for a dermatologist. Basically I handle human tissue removed during skin cancer surgeries for testing purposes. Pretty neat. I love my job. If I make money at the ball breeding biz, so be it, but it's not my main income.

I'm only 21-- but i've been out of highschool for 5 years-- i have 2 kids, a mortgage, 2 car payments, i run a huge-a-mongus rescue-- and am a huge part of the dog rescue--
I had no plans of going back to school.
I quit my job 2 years ago when the rescue took off so i could run the rescue and stay at home with my kid (now kidS)
I'm going on year 2---
NEVER EVER thought i'd go back.
I see that my vet that we use with the reptiles drives a BMW and my vet that does german shepherd rescue (at a greatly reduced rate) is 70-- and just now considering retiring -- only for his wifes sake.
He is the first to the clinic and the last to leave- he loves his job and life... also drives a BMW and a Lexus on the weekends....
Thats what I want-- A job i love- that makes me money.
I plan to partner with someone and open my own clinic when i'm done with school-- I dreamed of having a successful rescue many years ago and it happened, dreamed of owning my own home a year ago- and it happened, dreamed of buying a new car 5 days ago and TA-DA-- it happened...
I want what i want and i get it.
It took me 2 semesters to really decide that the BS of college was going to be worth it in the end-- and it is--
you should definatly go back-- its never too late!
(but on that note- i will be glad when i'm done...)
Beth

It's never too late to go back to college... EVER. I'm only 20, but the classes I have taken have had some REALLY extreme age ranges. My partner in one of my Bio classes is 62, and she's awesome.
It's honestly not that uncomon. Community Colleges base a lot of their programs around established adults trying to better their career.
And it is nothing like high school or wierd like you'd prolly imagin it. As an functioning adult with a family and morgage, you are respected when you are there FOR taking the initiative to go back.
I encourage it, I think its awesome and a good decision. Go for it.
And good for you OKReptileRescue
