Boaphile Cages Removing Scratches

xrayeric1993 Mar 03, 2008 10:02 PM

Boaphiles, the best cages for the money. The price is right, customer service prompt, and options almost unlimited. Sure it may take a few weeks to get delivery of them, but good cages are worth the wait. Anyway, I have found a product to get out the scratches that accumulate on the acrylic called Novus scratch remover. It can be bought online and really works.

I'm really considering getting boaphiles myself, what are you keeping and what options did you choose?

Feel free to PM my if you would like.

I have the four footers that are 11.5 inches tall. I have found that this helps me maximize the number of cages in my reptile room. I keep Colombian morphs and T positive Argentines in my Boaphiles without any problems. My biggest issue with them was the minor scratches that accumulated over time(as with all acrylic), but that is not an issue with the Novus products. All of my cages come with the black hinges (for looks only), keyed locks, and a pedestal. I decided to heat them with flex watt on the bottom rather than the preinstalled heating for three reasons; cost,I like the flexibility of moving the hotspot, and easy of replacement in case of failure.

Great cages! I bought my first Boaphiles last fall, and I absolutely love them. As he said, they do scratch easily, but I'll have to try some of that scratch remover product! I was kind of disappointed with that- mine had little scratches on them within a week of having them. Even wiping the doors off with a wet paper towel was enough to put little scratches in them. You can't see these scratches except for when the light hits them, but they make huge glare spots in the light.

I bought a 6 foot cage that divides into two cages- a 6322D. I absolutely love it. It's the perfect cage for me, and I will DEFINITELY be buying more. As xrareyeric said, I'd like to heat them myself with Flexwatt. I bought these prewired, and really like the heat in them, but I think from now on, I'd go with my own wiring, because I get the EXACT heat that I want, and can easily change it if I end up keeping other species in the cages. It's easy to add an extra strip to some flexwatt, but with the heat that comes with the cages, you have to add another whole plug and everything as a separate unit, compared to just a few clips & wires, making one big heater.
