snake bite treatment question

my buddy wanted me to post this thread. he will be in west texas in big bend national park. he will be hiking isolated areas. he wants to know what snake bite treatment he should keep in mind if bit by a rattlesnake miles from his car or medical attention, thank you.

The best treatment is preventative. DON'T GET BIT! The other advise, if you're going to be that far off the beaten path, don't go it alone. Have a partner just incase you need emergency help.

Very good advise. Snake bite would be the last thing I'd be worried about (although its good to be prepared). I'd be more worried about dehydration, falling and breaking something, africanized bees, ect. For all of these situations, a partner can save your behind. Other than that, a GPS and some survival knowledge are good for the desert.
