HEEEEELP!

Any night owls awake out there?

OK so my Bindy’s (a year and 4 months) has been digging, so I moistened some sand and piled it up in a corner...she took to it right away...and was in her “hole” all day...well she just emerged, and was looking sooooo skinny, so we checked just in case. UMM 15 eggs! HOLY COW! WHATDOIDO WHATDOIDO??? LOL I was planning on researching this more as spring came closer, but I’m soooo unprepared! Going to the forum now to research, but any help from anyone who's still awake would be great!

Oh yeah....the eggs...8 are very firm, and 7 are smooshy.

For now I have them in a rubbermaid in moist sand with a screen on top and night-heat light above that so temp is 83-84.

Going to store tomorrow to buy vermiculite (right?) and a humidity thermometer (right?)

Do I need to get a incubator? Or can I maintain heat and humidity by myself (spraying them every day?) What kind of incubator, and who hasthe best prices?

Eeeeeeek.....I can't believe I'm so unprepared! There's still snow on the ground here!

Thanks guys!
Jeni

Gotta go learn...thanks!

Hey, I'm incubating beardie eggs for the first time so I might not be a ton of help, but here goes. Vermeticulite(sp?) is best to use, so I'm told. A light might dry out your eggs, so I suggest that you get an incubator, you can keep the temp more constant with one anyway. I got eleven good eggs and four mushy eggs on Sunday and the squishy eggs started getting smelly, so I threw them out. Hope this helps some, I hope someone else responds.

Thanks so much! I'm back from the store with vermiculite and containers...hope it's not too late! The eggs dimpled a bit overnight.

Love your quote...my male is Albus (Albie), named after the great Dumbledore (plus one of his hands is gone...) He was a rescue...no one knows how he lost his hand and eye...I rescued him and his sis/girlfriend together, and we named her Minerva (Minnie)...HA!

Good luck w/your first clutch! Yaaay Momma Beardies!

I forgot to say in the last post, but don't spray dirrectly on the eggs, it could drownd them. Just spray around them.
I'm glad you like my Dumbledore quote. It made me smile because its the hind of thing that only Dumbledore would say.
