sharing some more artwork

aera Mar 05, 2008 02:47 PM

Hi all! Since you guys seemed open to me sharing my artwork previously, I thought you might like this reptile room divider I made. I can't wait to get everything set up! I don't have a ton of room in my place so I needed something to keep distractions down in front of my enclosures (I keep scrubs..)
Anyhow, the wood is antique pine (1890's) from Glen Riddle farm in Berlin, Maryland. I hand milled the frame and trim pieces.
Oh,btw- A rainbow boa piece will be done in a month! What a challenge!
Thanks,Matt

I started out with basically raw cut lengths (normally 4"x8" sometimes I can get them at 4"x10" , then milled it down to the size I need(which in this case was 3/4" x 4".) I'll shoot some more pics for you tomorrow.

Stephen,
I did have a close up(not so great photo) of the center panel detail. The design isn't grey on black as it looks, but is contrasting flat black against gloss black, pretty cool effect The petina of the glen riddle wood is exactly how I recieved it. Only poly coats to seal it. It's amazing how well preserved the back of the wood is. Shows what some heavy spar-var or something close to that used over a hundred years is like embalming fluid to wood.
