leads itself to snake shots! Here are a few very recent acquisitions... The first, a nice female Hueco. The second and third are a pair of Glass Mtns... male and female respectively.
Hope you enjoy... I know I'm already in love w/ all of them!

I am sure you all remember the Hueco/Gap exchange here on the forum a couple of months ago.. Well after that exchange, David & I carefully went through each of the animals in question and it turned out that I had 1.0 Hueco (this female) and 1.2 Hueco/Gap crosses...

This was 100% an HONEST mistake on David's part. David was VERY cooperative in making me 100% happy and the issue was rectified without one ounce of hesitation on David's part!

David assured me that this female was one of at least two good eggs that he got from his 100% Hueco's that he purchased directly from Dan Johnson..

This is the story as I know it! If I am incorrect on any point regarding this female, I will refund every penny of Chris' money without any question.

thats a sweet hueco, havent seen any pure ones with speckling like that, very nice!!

brad anderson Mar 06, 2008 11:41 AM

Looks like it has some south Brewster influence to me. Just my 2 cents opinion. The adults from the Huecos have not shown any of that "busy" ness pattern. At least not the 25-30 I've seen photos of and the 4 I've seen in person. It's still a good-looking alterna, no matter what its lineage. I would like to know where that red aberrant alterna is from that you posted, Mike. Gorgeous! BA

I am not trying to ruin anybodies day, but in my opinion that is not a pure Hueco, that has every marker on it that the Gap x Hueco crosses have had and it looks like no Hueco anybody has every found. The speckling is a dead giveaway.

It is just not the real deal in my opinion. I would recommend that you track this back to the breeder to make sure there was not a mix up.

Sorry... Just being honest

Hey Lance,

Send me an email & i will send you the photos of the parents that look very similar to the female in question.. Then you can go to Dan's website and match them up with thier hatchling pictures.. Just as Jim Dobis & i did this a couple of months ago when i originally posted the female in the picture below.. Which turned out to be a hueco/gap cross.. I am pretty sure you and Steve got a male from the same hueco/gap clutch as i did??

Of course I was not there when the eggs were laid or hatched out, but i was told from "the breeder" that this female came from a Hueco pairing.. And, my other 2.1 were indeed hueco/gap crosses.. It would make absolutly no sense at all for me or the breeder to lie about somthing like that..

I really don't know what else to say about this.. At this point it would have just been easier for me to sell her as a hueco/gap cross and be done with this whole issue..

Also, as i have mentioned in the past.. I have extremely limited experience with Huecos.. So, i am not trying to argue with you..

I am just going by what i am told..

I`d like try to shed some light on this. I realize that Huecos are not suppose to have any speckling or busy triple alternates. I have never collected one, so my opinions are based on the reports of others who have. Referring to the specific group that Mike acquired from me last year, 3 turned out to be Black Gap crosses. There was one that was pure Hueco, and I`m pretty sure that this one was it. I decided to investigate, so I went to Dan`s original site (the alterna bible). I verified that my three adult breeders are still posted on his site (2.1) as hatchlings. I also noticed that there are a few exceptions to the "no speckles rule". In fact some of the captive born babies did show quite a bit or what many of us would consider "Brewster county influence". The best examples were year 2001. Check it out!
Simply go to dan-johnson.net/herp Then click on 2001 production information. Go to Hue0101 and click on clutch ID photos. The babies are identical to the one posted at the beginning of this thread. Hope this helps....

Hi David,
Sure hope KU polishes off A&M tommorrow to win there umpteenth Big8/12 hoops title!! Plus Tennessee is doing great this year too. As far as your explanation on Mike's Hueco alterna he got from you I just wonder if Dan could of made a mistake? He bred so many outstanding alterna in such a short period of time. I know one of his original wild caughts had some real "squiglly" markings in the nuchal area but alternates all the way down just doesn't look like a Hueco. Thats just my opinion though [and I guess Lance's too}. Not trying to make waves, just an educated observation. He did admit he mixed up those ones a few months ago. Makes you go "Hmmm" BA

Hi Brad,
A&M can be very dangerous tomorrow for your Jayhawks. They seem to be a real Jeckle and Hyde team this year - you never know who is going to show up! With Dan`s Huecos, I would really be surprised if he mixed the original pictures or babies up. He was very committed to doing everything just right. The mix up that he and I had with the Hueco/Black Gap female turned out to be clearly and accurately identified on his website. I do accept that your theory is a possibility, but if I was a betting man, I`d bet on Dan to be accurate. As far as betting on the Aggies tomorrow, I`m much less confident....
David

I guess Mr. Hyde showed up for the Aggies today!!!!!!!!!!!
