I am by far, not nitpicking, or being malicious in any way. I was just currious to the reasoning for the corkbark entrance to the lower area of the basking spot. I would think that the monitor would dig a suitable hole for itself under the spot. Is it for astetics? Am I missing something? Just curious.

I used 2 of those big cork bark pieces in the cage. The area under the basking site is hollowed out (2x3 feet) but she increased the size of that herself a few times already. She has also added an exit through the top on her own. Its about choices I gave her a buried cork bark tunnel so it wont cave in and to allow her the choice to use it or the underground chamber beyond as well as make her own changes. Id say shes happy from her constant use of it. She has a piece of cork bark that stands on an angle from below ground level to above her tunnel next to it, with it she can hide or enter the tunnel or climb up to near her flourescent light.

SHvar,

Where did you get your cork? I actually found bulk cork where I live, but it's not very large. The biggest tube I could find had a width of 4".. I'm trying to find at least 6-8" wide tubes.. Wider if possible.

It was hidden behind a display because the guy didnt want somebody cutting it up and selling it as pieces. He had alot of pieces up to 4 ft and 8in diameter but this was huge it was round and 5.5ftx12" inner diameter, and its 3 or so inches thick. He gave a good deal on it.
