I read it. Plenty of raw, indisputable, "if it looks like a duck" logic was voiced by the guys.
Funny how the USFWS says it needs 'information'. Information on species, that have already been listed in CITES appendix II, for years. For those of you who don't understand my point, the USFWS must make a 'finding' for every CITES permit issued, this 'finding' being that the permit will not harm the species' conservation. This 'finding' is derived from much of the same information they now say they don't have and are soliciting us for, in the Federal Register.
I feel the panelists gave the USGS junk science 'publication' the attention and credence it deserves..
On their projection map, it appears USGS overlooked projecting the swimming ability of Burmese pythons. After 'global warming' and 'the big one' hits, California will be girded by ocean on the east so the burmese pythons will have to swim the ocean, in their laser beam-like quest to colonise one third of the United States...
Gentlemen, we'd better do the humane thing and set up 'heat pack" stations for the pythons on their way north, similar to water stations for the Mexicans in the southwest deserts..
I noted our boys pointed out the blatant hypocrisy of the decline by USGS to attend this discussion after numerous other invitations to appear elsewhere were obviously accepted...
Noted were Mr Bob Clark's comments directed towards PIJAC. His question begs- Can we or should we hang our hats on PIJAC and trust that doing so will provide a favourable outcome?
Ronald Reagan once said "The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'"
Well boys, it appears the government wants to "help".
