Cheap cage accessories

I have a juvenile Brazilian Rainbow Boa (just shy of 2 ft) in an insulated 29 gallon tank. I mostly use things I find in stores or around the house for his cage because they're cheap and fit him better than most things I find in pet stores (ie - his humidity box is a plastic food container with a hole cut in it that fits him snugly). I was wondering if there's any such item that anyone recommends or has had success with in terms of hides, climbing material, etc. I was thinking about using wood to build some things but don't know how well it would hold up in 70-80% humidity.

Also, I was thinking of making something for him to climb on out of PVC pipes, has anyone used this before or have pictures?

REsponding to the PVC pipe question - I first saw this type of thing in a bird cage. I then made one for a carpet python. Basically, cut a bunch of pieces of PVC pipe and used various fittings to make a jungle gym. Mine was rather simple and rectangular. I slipped a wood dowel in the longest pieces to give some rigidity. Definitely holds up to humidity and works, just kind of unsightly.

Rainbow boas are very terrestrial snakes. My guess would be concentrate your efforts on a cage with lots of floor area, as cage height and climbing apparatus are not thing a rainbow boa really needs.

You could go to a Home Depot type store and get pots and the bottom things for like a $1. They make great slides. Also you can probably get for free if you ask for the broken ones.
