a good eating night-- post -food Q

odin22 Mar 09, 2008 12:56 PM

Hey Ian:

It was a good night last night. Hopey, the ball python, eventually ate a small F/t rat (from Petco)--this makes 2 weeks she's eaten after 2 months of refusing our offers. Still not sure what turned her into a reluctant eater after being an avid striker at F/t food.*shrug*
Brigid/Twilight, our last red-tail boa baby, ate her first F/t fuzzy mouse, after last week eating two live pinky mice--and that had been her first meal ever (one month after being born).
She seems fine--Vet says too early to show IBD, but maybe I was seeing a URI...but I hear nothing, and no open mouth. I think I saw star-gazing in some new baby boas at Petco....it was sad...but that was NOT our baby.
I think that Brigid's in a 2'x 1' 93 hot side, 75ish cool. when she finished eating, she stretched out on the cool side. Is that normal? Our corn and rat snakes both head for the hideboxes and heat. I tried to direct Brigid to the same, but she preferred stretching long near her water bowl on the cool side.
Happy with fully pookie bellies,
Antigone

Thanks for the update, it sounds like things are picking up. Let the boa do whatever it likes, but be sure that both sides offer security (hide on both sides).
