Anyone have "stick-on" thermometer come off and stick to snake?

ngiovas Aug 28, 2003 12:04 PM

I had the strangest thing happen this week and last week. I bought a stick on thermometer and hydrometer set from flukers. I have an infrared heat gauge I use for accurate temperature readings, but I like to glance at the stick on thermometer when I'm in the room to make sure everything is still ok.

Last week my wife called me panicked. The snake was hanging from the hydrometer - it had started to peel away from the tank wall and the snakes tail was stuck to it. My wife had to pull her away from it and it even pulled off a few scales.

This week, the same thing happened again, but with the thermometer. It was stuck to the snakes jaw. I couldn't believe it. my snake is only 3 months old and can't weigh very much. The adhesive was brand new and very sticky when I installed them. I thought these things would be perfectly safe in her cage. Has anyone else seen this happen?

Obviously I have removed both from her cage and will not be replacing them.

Sorry, I meant hygrometer, not hydrometer.

that happened to my snake, he took a trip to the vet and they removed it with no damage to the snake. My roommate thinks I should have sued the company so this wouldn't happen to other snakes.
