I have a two year old dum that I have raised from a hatchling. I was a cbb specimen. He's a good size, a little over 3ft snout to tip of tail. He lives in a large enclosure, 6ft long, 4ft high, 3ft wide with a large dammed shelf full of substrate (soil/sand mix). There's a large hidebox filled with soil and moss on the lower level as well as a large water receptacle and 4 foot hollow log. I do daily water changes. I think he has a resp infection b/c he "spit" at me when I was handling him earlier. Like a slimy spit. I read that temps can cause this and figure it may have occurred due to my heating lamps being located on the upper level only. Surface temps reach 130 all day. The cage is closed top with very little ventilation to maintain humidity. He's still eating like a champ, crawfish and shrimp 6 days a week. The only sympton is the spitting. I'm going to mount another lamp on the lower level to distribute more heat and take him to a reptile vet this week. Any other reccomendations or suggestions? I also add water to the soil 2x daily for humidity. Thanks.
