pvc racks...

bergmantis Mar 10, 2008 11:25 AM

1. I have an older boaphile original rack (pvc I think) and was wondering if it mattered which side is up? It is heated back heat and there are no pegs for stacking.

2. Also, to clean these things, since the back heat tape is not exposed, is it ok to hose the whole thing down?

3. Finally, if I want to install belly heat, and cut out 4" slits on the sides of the shelves to weave the flexwatt through, do I just use a dremel or am I asking for problems by doing this?

Thanks,

Mat

Guess nobody is touching this one, so......If it's just a perfect square with no legs, then I guess there is no up or down with back heatm unless the connections are coming out one end, then I'd put it so those aren't being tweaked in any way. As far as hosing it down, I wouldn't recommend it, especially while plugged in. Might want to just spray it down with virosan or something and wipe it clean to be on the safe side. You can cut out slots to run the tape through, but then I'd atleast tape it down across the shelves with the aluminum duct tape so sliding the tubs over it repeatedly won't curl it and start to tear up the heat tape.
