Waxworm/Mealie Question

TasiaMay Aug 28, 2003 12:43 PM

Hi all. My three cresties are currently eating about 8-12 small crickets a night (with much gusto), but that's it. I've tried all sorts of baby food, which they don't seem to like.

My question is can I feed them small mealies or waxworms on occasion, as a treat, for a variety in their diet? I have also heard that you are supposed to cut the heads of mealies because they can eat through the stomach ... is this true? Is this true of waxworms as well?

I know this has been posted on the forum before, but when I did the search I couldn't find the answers.

Thanks in advance for all the help!

Well, I don't have a crestie, but I can answer about takin the heads of the worms. I feel my leo all mealworms, and they definately do not need their heads taken off. The same goes for waxworms. I think if they arent killed in the mouth, the stomach acids would do the rest.
