Young Leo Hissing

kuitsuku Mar 10, 2008 09:14 PM

Hey everyone, unfortunately my young leo passed away a few nights ago but I was told he wasn't in good condition from the moment I took him home. I cleaned his cage and knew what to look for this time.

I brought home two sub-adult leos on the 8th, one who's nice and plump and another who 's healthy but can't hurt to gain a bit.
They seem to be eating regularly and climb all around at night, but one of them always glares at me when I sneak a peak by their cage. It's been standing tall when I come around and today it even hissed and striked at me. Should I hold it more often so it gets used to me, or leave it alone for a while? It hasn't even been a week in their new home so I assume it's still getting used to everything.

I'll post some pictures soon~ =} Thanks for any help!

small geckos do that as their defense. it thinks u are a predator.. i would leave it for a week or so and slowly introduce yourself to it.

That’s normal with young Leos that have not been handle to much, for that matter some adults are the same way if not handled enough. I would give him a few weeks to "settle in" then start to gradually handle him until he is comfortable with you.
