Removable Perch

Moat Mar 11, 2008 03:57 AM

I am using this exact tank

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdhDtM_vzqQ

it is a exo terra 18x18x24 and has the covered top, not a screen anyway my question is how would I install the perches as seen in the video (yes I sent him a message asking how he did it but got no reply) It appears to be Shower Curtain Rod holders with a pvc or wood pipe however I am unsure how you would even attach those U shaped holders to the glass.. Epoxy? Sticky Foam (think sticky attachment included with exo terra hydrometer and thermometer

Does anyone have suggestions for a good removable perch I have tried Jungle Vines as well as Rubber branches neither where effective at all.

All help is appreciated thanks in advanced

Justin

I've set up perches like that using plastic closet rod holders (available at Home Depot, Lowes, etc.) with silicone to hold them to the sides. I just put the enclosure on its side, put some silicone on the closet rod holder and put it in place and then put a brick on top of it to hold in place overnight. Worked like a charm. Hope this helps.

This way, it is fully removable and can be sanitized. It also allows for easy removal of the animal(if attatched to perch).

Very cool Scott. I didn't know you were also into GTP. Those are some great looking animals and a nice looking set up. Is that an RBI cage they are in (I know that you use their racks)? If so, how do you like it and how do you heat it? If not, who did make it and the same questions apply. Thanks.

I dabble in a little bit of everything; always have .
It's an Animal Plastics 3x2x2 cage. I have a heat panel overhead on the right side of the enclosure. I really like AP cages, but I do prefer sliding glass doors over hinged ones. It also has the routed in belly heat, but I have never used it. The GTP male is a mustard and the female is a Kofaiu locale.

Here's a close up of my female.
