rainbowsrus Mar 11, 2008 01:19 PM

He's been taking care of business with both of his girlfriends!!!

Shortly after introduction, on Feb seventh, was all over Savannah....

Then on March fifth, was taking care of Daisey

Then again last night March 10th was all over Daisey...

They were soooo hot they had to move to the water bowl to cool down. By this morning they were done and went their seperate ways.

Looking forward to two litters of Calico X high color offspring!!!

You and me both!!! Expecting normal looking babies. If the trait is genetic, IMO no way could this be dominant, maybe co-dom but more likely recessive. Of course breeding trials must be done before anyone can say it is or is not genetic.

I'm planning on letting four pairs go, three already spoken for.

Maybe some additional males, will have to wait and see.

thats kinda funny im all excited to get a few normal BRBs and here dave is with all kinda of calicos coming not to mention the hypos, anerys, and up and coming pearls lol

I have been away awhile obviously or just not payin attention...when you get that and is that a genetic trait?

or is it the same like in reticulated pythons where it may show up later in life leading to another mystery in how it is passed on ? het for calico is BS as far as I am concerned..it is not a simple recessive trait in retic's in my opinion or any snake as far as I can tell...a type of Piebaldism..not "pied" ball pythons either am I referring to.

Did you miss the whole "I have a secret" thang????

Picked him up from Brian Sharp, genetics are unknown and I for one am NOT calling the babies hets, only offspring from Fluffy. I will be working him and his offspring to prove the genetics one way or another. I really hope to make more just like him.

That will take you awhile, father to daughter brother to sister, and you probably will have to grow them up before it develops, well maybe not, who knows. No body that's who. Maybe you will someday...

What is the scoop on him. Was he an adult when obtained or did he go through a "change" under someone's care ????

Yeah, not a short term project but IMO still worth the attempt.

From Brian Sharp....

This animal was purchased by another party at a reptile show in CA several years ago. It was normal in color at that point, but began to change color as a yearling.

I bred this male to only one normal female a few years ago and produced a small litter of normal looking babies. Two pairs were sold to different individualsand I kept the rest to raise. A thermostat failure some months later resulted in a yearling/juvenile rack overheating and all the babies dies. I have not bred the male since.

Signed Brian Sharp 9/19/07

From what I understand Brian did not buy him until after he had calico'd up.

IMO also a worthwhile project. I do not believe it to be a simple recessive gene. I do believe it is some type of genetic animaly though. Just not understood.

IMO nobody but a fool or someone with wayyyy to much money would spend serious coin on a snake without the plans / intent of at least making back that investment over time. I myself have invested a lot into my collection as should be quite obvious with what I have. I have also made some of that back with my BRB production. I make no excuses and have said it on many occasions, my intent is to make breeding snakes my full time job. To that end I will obviously have to sell much more than what I currently do or even than I currently make at my "day job" since there will be expenses involved that I don't have "going to work" now.

I have finally found what I want to be when I grow up and am going for it!! And I have to thank my best supporter, my wife. While she does not share my passion, she does understand how passonate I am about my snakes and has supported and allowed me to invest in the future of my breeding programs. Including purchasing Fluffy!

Me too!!! If there were no cash value to them at all, there would be few to none around in captivity. And no industtry built around caring for them.

Kinda like ants, Some people (mostly kids) keep them in an ant farm but since they have no monetary value, not a lot of them in captivity!!

CB = Captive Born could be a WC gravid female

CBB = Captive Bred and Born soes not matter if parent(s) are CBB or WC if bred in captivity, then babies are CBB

Although you are right, I think CBB should mean captive babies from Captive bred parents because if the female is wild caught gravid or not it is still a wild caught animal. But you are right but I find that term misleading.

Not as many as I have of Fluffy.......

I recently loaded up a couple of her early pics for comparison

In February when I got her/them. IMO clearly has that "gave birth not very long ago and have not gained any weight back yet" look

After a shed September '07

And again after a shed in December

crappy wild caught snakes I tell ya.

My god she looks GREAT and het hypo to boot. Maybe your own line no less.

I would be VERY excited about her genotype.

Even if she was not het for anything that red will improve lots

Does BLOOD RED improve the appearance of a HYPO?

Bet your a$$ it does (IMO)

VERY NICE!!!!!
