With a screen name like that you must be in FL, I am in Pensacola and breed tricolors. My opinion is that they can have the same life cycle as any other colurbrid. I belive allowing the female to just lay and lay and lay will shorten the life span of the females, since they will lay every five weeks as long as you let them. In essenance, they could very well lay themselves to death. That makes them bit different than most other "pet" snakes that have breeding seasons. Just my opinion and observations, I do not think there is very much data on the captive lifespan of these animals, since they are relativly new to the "pet" industry.

dude in England says they live 4 years..
I bought a pair that was 4 and 5 years old....
female was 4, laid a couple times and died real fast.....like the week I bought her while she was laying duds.....
male lived a little over a year......had a new girlfriend......didn't make any good eggs and he died also..
the female that was 2..laid almost every 30 days for 8 clutches last year......none were any good.....she never lost weight or an intrest in food......she is now at another home and eats but is alone for awhile....she has a new male waiting for her soon..
......I won't buy any more tri hogs ....
.
.this is all very limited info, but they didn't live long ......maybe something to it....
.....oh...and I couldn't make her stop laying as to rest her......she just laid no matter what temps I had her at......

You have to cut off their food to get them to stop laying. Simply dropping temps will not work. They are great animals and very easy to maintain, just require a little more control and observation when it comes to breeding.
I have a female that is 5 years old. Very healthy and strong. She is coming off of a years break. If you do not limit their laying, they will "lay" themselves to death. There is the center of the issue....controling the amount of clutches they lay. It can be done, just takes effort on your part.
They also seem to be more sensitive to RI's than other hogs.

what do you think are the main factors that cause respitory. temp? humidty?
Humidity. The one really bad bout I had with RI's was when I provided a constant humid hide. About 12 animals came down with it (most were babies). Now I only provide one when they are in shed and when a female is about to lay. Even then it is only slightly damp, and I let it get really dry before I dampen it again. For babies, I place them in their water bowl once a week. They will normally hang out and soak for a while and drink. The babies seem to have a bit of trouble finding the water and will dehydrate quickly. Adults get a shallow water bowl at all times, and are doing well that way.
Also, when they did get the RI's they did not do the typical open mouth breathing. They just stopped eating. When a female tri stops eating then something is wrong. Her mouth was very "slimey" when I looked inside, but she never seemed to struggle to breath. If I held her head up close to my ear I could hear very faint popping sounds, but that was it. Nice round of baytril and all were good to go. Luckly, I caught it very early, but if I did not check my animals daily, or keep very detailed feeding records, it could have easily been missed.

Yes I live in Destin FL I have a couple pair of last years halchlings. I noticed rather quickly that you had to put them in there water bowls.I was asking the question about life span because I noticed the breeding pair available in the classifieds and it got me wondering. I really like the bicolor male. Thanks for the info.
Very cool! Are you part of the Pensacola Fishing Forum? If so we may know each other from there!
So did you get your pair local? I have sold a few to some of the loacl shops so if you did........
