Those 1 in 16 odds...A Snow[less] litter

kblumenthal Mar 11, 2008 05:28 PM

I repeated the breeding this season that produced the first Sharp Snow last year - DH Sharp Snow female from Class Reptilia/Ron Michelotti x DH Sharp Snow male from R&R Boas/Ryan Horsch. This morning at 103 days P.O.S., my female (Colombia) gave birth to a litter of 27. There were 9 Sharp Albinos 66% Het for Anery (Het Sharp Snow), 5 Anerys 66% Het Albino (Het Snow), 13 Normals 66% DH Snows, 1 stillborn, and 2 slugs. Unfortunately, there were no Sharp Snows in the litter - I guess the odds Gods weren't on my side this year (especially with 27 in the litter!). All the babies look great with no yolk sac, which is always a plus. Some of the Albinos have some funky patterns going on and they have a range of colors. I can't wait to really see them once they've shed!

The best news is that Colombia is doing great and took a meal without a problem. Enjoy the pics, and best of luck to everyone with their upcoming litters. I truly hope to see some more Sharp Snows this season from someone!

Kev,
Bummer on the snows, but the litter looks great!!
Nine sharp albinos, not a bad thing.
Take care,
Ralph

Thanks Ralph, with 9 Albinos I'm definitely not complaining !

Nice looking and nice sized litter, so congrats on that. Bummer on the poor odds though. A friend had a 26 neo litter of het to het (proven by her previously) without a single hit in the bunch. Looks like it might be one of those years.

Thanks Randall. I figured I was due since I was so very lucky with getting a snow out of a litter of 13 last year, and another out of a litter of 7! I guess it all evens out in the end...
