I have a JCP that was sold to me as a female. I've never had reason to doubt that until now. My JCP has refused the last two meals I offered and it constantly cruising around the cage. It's behavior is much like my male bullsnake at this time of year when it starts to warm up. It forgets about food and constantly searches for a mate. This is starting to make me wonder. Any other explaination for this behavior?
How do you go about sexing a JCP? It's much to large to pop, and I'm just getting her/him to trust me handling it. I really hate to probe it if there is another way. Can you look at the taper of the tail area like a cornsnake? Or go by the length of the tail? If I do probe, how many scale lengths deep should I expect for each of the sexes?
