Lil' SFMK girl....

cn013 Mar 12, 2008 07:58 PM

Wanted one of these lil' bastards for a long while... walked right in and Lindsay Pike's table was right where it was supposed to be and this lil' lady was just hanging out. I'm still almost as excited as if I just got her today... my thanks to Lindsay!

What makes you say that?!? LOL... yup pretty much. I've been hooked on calligaster since I picked up a hatchling amel. @ the 'Twin Towers' when I was a youngster. But you're right it's gaining momentum =)

Yeah well I'm jealous of the fact that you had them years ago!!! By the way -- hope mine holds out to be half as nice as your former pair. Those were/are some sweet animals Doug!

Thanks buddy!,.....

Chris, is that female a DeSoto,County lineage youngster by any chance?,....that's what mine were. They were hatched many years ago from a gravid female crossing a dirt road near Arcadia, Florida.

Don't worry, that little girl is going to look fabulous as an adult too!

Correct again Doug... not alot to choose between but yep she's of DeSoto County lineage. I really hope she does turn out nice -- as is she's quite nice for a SFMK... dirt road huh? Man looks like I need to drive around down south a bit more!!!

Have a good one,
Chris

I know a guy who was "road-cruising" at dusk, and saw some very small snakes in the dirt road that he thought might be a few elusive young SFMK's,............he had true hopes of granduer, and was extremely excited,.......upon closer inspection, they turned out to be the ever popular "Southern Pygmy" that inhabit the same are!..LOL!,.........so WHATEVER YOU DO, take a good look first before jumping on one of these "SFMK's"..hahaha!

later!, ~Doug

My experience w/ small pygmies has been that they starting 'jumping' @ me! Feisty little creatures... just the same any live snake on the road is usually met with equal excitement from me -- one day man -- one day!

If you're like me, all you ever see are friggin' tons of Southern Black Racers all over the place. Those things are as common as rocks in this area!. I sort of regard them as pennies on the sidewalk,.....sure it's money, but not worth the effort to bend over and grab it!..LOL!

Sadly enough it's the truth. Though I'm kinda lucky as I live adjacent to a decent county park. I get the occasional yellow rat or ribbon snake cruising through the yard. But by leaps and bounds it's just black racers...
Though @ a family member's house I've noticed alot of ringnecks making a comeback. Funny... along with those imported Brahiminy blind snakes. Just would like to see a nice getula snacking on a far too abundant fruit rat!!
Suppose things change...
