A longicauda time in coming...

lateralis Mar 12, 2008 09:16 PM

LOL
Micah and other longicauda afficianados here are my 4+ year old, unrelated, Harding line longis.
I have not seen actual intro but then I only see them for about 4 hours a day so...
Since this is my first experience reproducing boas I have no idea what to expect, are they typical BCI type gestation/temp regime/POS etc...? Im more of a Woma/Colubrid guy but these boas are the coolest thing since sliced bread; small bodied, good temperament, easy to raise/maintain, and apparently not too difficult to breed . The photos below show the male as a baby and at 3 years, the porn shot was from a few weeks ago, I put her in with him to clean her cage and when it came time to swith them he had jumped her already. They were cooled in my snake room during fall/winter with ambient warming through till Feb 14 when I turned heat tape back up to 86 deg. I just came in from the room and they are at it again, the males temp is 83 and the female is 84.1 . The room cools to mid 70's at night.

Looks good. I have always liked the look of harding line. most of my longi litters have been between 114-120 or so days, but i still base their due dates of 105 days. that way i get a better work out pacing in the snake room. I keep them about the same as my bci stuff during their gestation, so no major changes for BcL's. best of luck with your longi's , cant wait to see some babies in a couple of months.

Thanks Guys! This morning I went in at sunrise and they were still at it, only this time their was definitely intromission, no mistaking it this time, and I see why they have such long tails, they are the LJHolmes of the snake world! This is very exciting for me, I have bred animals that I have raised before but these guys have really blossomed as they matured and are just the neatest thing. Wow, I cannot wait to see what happens next. ANyways thanks for hte kind words I'll keep you all posted on the progress.
