heating rack

topdriver Mar 13, 2008 05:10 PM

I recently bought a rack system that has 4 bins. Its my first after breeding Boa's in tanks, converted jewelry case ect ect.Someone bought me a brand new DBS 1000.My question is where would you put the probe?I would think it would have to go in the bin in the back part that sits on the flexwatt, but again its my first rack.Any help would be greatly apprieciated.

I always tape my probe directly to the heat tape. I then use a temp gun to get the accurate temp over the heat tape inside the tub. It is usually 8-11* difference depending on the shelf location. I have always liked to monitior the tape directly instead of trying to monitor the tub. In the tub a snake can move the probe letting the tape get way too hot.

Tape the probe right to the heat tape, and use a temp gun.
Another thing to do before using the rack is to buy a digi thermometer (indoor/outdoor with a probe) and put the thermometor probe inside the tub toward the back, and the thermometer itself inside in the front of the tub, and then adjust your T-stat. Once its at the right temps then you can remove it and use the rack, and temp gun to monitor it.
