deceptions from a female Brazilian...all pic's from today...

I do not believe she is gravid but after she eats she lays around like she is.

The male I got from Jeff is quite different color-wise and the best feeder Brazilian I have ever owned, he will eat any type of prey animal...Mice,Rats,Guinea Pigs, Chicks,Quail, and probably any other rodent you throw at him.

here is my hopeful acting & looking gravid Dumeril female.

Acts gravid to me, why do you believe she isn't gravid? Does that posture only happen after she eats ? I'd love to have mantids this season. Do you think the native species of them in Jersey are the same as the ones in Texas? I'd like to be responsible and not introduce a sub species here that could cause an imbalance somehow. I'd have to do some research first.

I'm gonna buy a pinkie pump for emergencies.

Well she could be but she is not thermoregulating. She only rests like that after a large meal. Most of my gravid female snakes I have had over the past 15 years ALWAYS EAT. I also will try to get them to eat anything. I do feed "most likely" gravid females smaller meals because of all the rig a mo row (is that right ?) I have read about it not being good for them and they may pass them prematurely.

Most times I just get a "feeling" that the snake is gravid.

Not getting the vibe here.

But I have been wrong more then 10 times.I had a "male" Colubrid lay eggs once while teaching a friend the ropes of breeding Colubrid's in the late 80's early 90's, nothin was going on, so I told him to throw in the extra male to get things going, They all started twitching and whamo. Funny Stuff...sexing rat snakes by eye can be tricky at times...to be sure I use sexing probes to push my accuracy rating into the 90's.

But you never know she may drop some...that would be nice lol.

I have to get one of those pinky pumps for the same reason...ya never know...I got mucho paraphernalia so I GATTA get that apparatus someday. hehe.

I was thinking the same thing about the mantids.

They are beautiful but I am sure they cannot talk to me like my snakes do.

I talk to my snakes, not only can they not hear me @ all, I consider it kind of crazy.

Well at least they don't answer me back. Although, I may want them to...hehe...I need a cat or dog like a normal person, but alas they can't talk either but at least they have eyelids and look genuinely interested in what I am saying. (smiles)

I guess you are saying bugs ain't worth talking to. Well someone OUT THERE will disagree with you. I ain't that far gone yet.

The Boa Woman dresses her Boas in Hats.

I grew up in a Town named Iselin.

The Indian Americans literally took it over.

(BTW, they did it fair and square for sure in my opinion and didn't force me to move to Arizona either, welcome to America !!!).

Perhaps I should consider a sari for mine.
