There is always a risk when you put 2 dragons together. Knock on wood, I personally have never had a problem. I will say some pairs get along better than others though. I think you need to make your own decision and if you do keep a close eye on them for a while. I also have lots of single males that get along fine by themselves.

how long does he go without eating anything? I wouldn't worry about him eating unless he's underweight. as long as he's not emaciated or dehydrated (lumps on head sunken in) you don't need to feed him every day! most adult BDs eat twice a week (bugs) and will nibble on greens. However i have one adult male that will go for a week without eating anything at all. They go through spurts of being hungry/ not hungry. In the wild they don't have a constant flow of food so it's normal for them to sometimes not be hungry.

I'd agree with watching them closely. I've only had the experience with under 10 males that I have kept/bred so I don't know why he hasn't mated with her right away. My boys are very agressive. Some females can get overly stressed if they refuse to mate they will try to desperately hide from the male. I wouldn't leave a female with a male permanantly stuck in a cage where they have no where to run. I think that's cruel to the females. They don't always want to be harassed and humped. I've had one female that HATED the males and REFUSEd to mate and i have another that LOVES them and is receptive. Watch them interact. If the female is constantly trying to get away them I wouldn't leave them in the cage together , she'll get too stressed out. Plus in the wild, they have somewhere to run. In a cage the female has pretty much no choice to say "no" to him. Not fair.

Just my opinion and observations...
