I challenge all the retic pros out there

Scott_Austin Mar 14, 2008 12:01 AM

To try and explain to me what is going on with my girl here. I pretty much figure that she is gravid but I am now lost on your typical retic schedule. Here comes the timeline:
Mid-December- huge swelling
Jan 2, 2008- Pre-lay shed (still swollen)
Feb 2, 2008- Another shed (still swollen)
Feb 20, 2008- Swelling is gone!
March 7, 2008- Huge swelling again
March 12, 2008- Femlae is flipped over.
Now can someone tell me when I should expect another pre-lay shed or eggs. I'm lost!!!
Pics show the swelling on 3-7-2008. It starts before the tail loops around and finishes at the tail. Flipped over on the 12th. Keep in mind this female hasn't eaten since November.
Thanks in advance,
Scott Austin

initial swelling was maturing oocytes in her ovaries and is a long term mid body swelling. the sheds were just sheds. then she ovulates with more pronounced med body swelling but it moves down into her lower most body as the eggs line up to her tail in the pair of ovaducts while shelling occurs. she inverts and basks during shelling and final egg development and lays hopefully sometime soon.
