always hiding? normal?

Gary93 Mar 14, 2008 12:19 PM

ive had my peruvian for a couple weeks now and all she has done is hide in 1 of her humid hides on the cool side. is it because shes still settling it? my humidity is 75% and higher, generally 80% or higher. temps range from 80-83 on the warm side, low 70s on the cool side.

Congratulations on the new RB, it's awesome, and thanks
for sharing the pics.

I guess there could be multiple factors for the snake hiding,
but I imagine a major one is instinctive behavior to avoid getting eaten.

Thanks,
Ed

i figured it was instinct and all that good stuff, but when i mean always hiding i mean it. she never even comes out at night.

Shipping and a new home are always a bit of a shock, added to their natural instinct to hide and not surprising at all. Is the tub in a quiet location? Are you leaving her alone or checking every half hour? And you might be surprised, they can sneak out at night and return without anyone knowing. Have you fed her? Hungry snakes are much more likely to come out and prowl.

Sounds good, once she's all settled in she might come out more, but matybe not if her hide is all nice and comfy and food just comes to her.
