Incubating Question

What is the best substrate to use for incubating eggs?

Another substrate to consider is perlite. I used vermiculite for a long time with good success, but last year changed to perlite. It is cleaner, and it is easier to monitor the level of moisture since you can clearly see the water level through a clear container. It also allows for more air circulation around the eggs helping to prevent mold. You just have to be sure to get your hatchlings moved onto a more suitable substrate soon after hatching since perlite is so coarse. It is also sometimes easier to find than vermiculite.
