West Virginia venomous laws?

TimCole Mar 15, 2008 03:20 PM

I checked the DNR website but as usual I was unable to locate any info.

Anyone here off hand know? I have someone asking to purchase a snake from me.

Tim,
Yes, you can possess venomous in W. Virginia
It's okay to ship there also.
No permits needed.

The response I got from DNR was "Section 1.04 of the attached DNR Policy states, in part, that "This agency will not issue an importation permit for ..... species in the Class Reptilia that are inherently dangerous to humans." This came from Lt. Colonel J. B. Jenkins Deputy Chief, DNR Law Enforcement Section

Doesn't matter anyway, the buyer didn't answer my e-mail with questions such as "What experience do you have with venomous snakes and where do you live"?

Thats strange. I have never had to acquire an Importation Permit to ship to anywhere in the U.S.
Maybe I should have LOL!

I have had to have a Vet Certificate for some states though.
