Three Female Holdback Blushing Mohaves

fgs Mar 15, 2008 08:41 PM

The first female Mojave is a huge 07 hatch topping the scales at 875 grams.

The second female Mojave is a late 07 hatch. A little darker than the others I've produced, but I liked her contrasting colors.

The third photo is of the first and only Mojave I produced in 2006. She now weighs about 1200 grams and will be at perfect breeding weight this time next season.

All three were fathered by the same male, but all had different mothers.

The breeder male has done his duty this year with at least four normals with hopes of more yet to ovulate.

He has locked up with my Caramel a few times and a beautiful Mark Bell Pastel, but have yet to see ovulation.

Thanks for letting me share my Blushing Mohaves with you.

I hope everyone is having a great season.

I am looking forward to the lesser X Blushing yellow Mojo babies in a couple of years!

Phil:

She's looking great.

The lesser bred to a blushing mojo will most likely be a stnning animal.

Good luck with that project.

I have a question. Every picture I see of mohaves, and seen in my own mohaves, there is a 'hook' in the design? Does anyone else notice this? I have seen it numerious times. Just curious.

fgs Mar 16, 2008 01:48 AM

Yes I have noticed the hook as you're calling it.

I would say about 75 % of the mohaves I've hatched out have that pattern.

Good observation.

Brian, those are prime examples of great looking mojaves! When you get a chance could you post a pic of the dad? Have you noticed much difference in the pattern and coloring of your mojaves based on the female your stud was bred to?

I hope your breeding season is successful ths year.

Alice:

Here is a photo I took a few weeks ago of the father of all of my holdback mohaves. He is wooing my female caramel. I can't wait to see the babies that come from this project. Both the mojave and the caramel have huge amounts of blushing.

To answer your question. Yes there has been a slight differnce in the contrast in colors from one clutch to the next based on the normal female / mother . Everything with me is about selective breeding. I won't even breed a normal unless it's a beautiful normal. The hook that was mentioned in a previous thread along with huge amounts of blushing is consistant with most of the baby mohaves produced no matter who the mother was.

The mojo in the second photo of my original thread and the snake that Phil Hoerner posted a photo of are full sisters.

The mojo in the first and third photo were from two differnt mothers.

Thanks and I hope you too are having a great season.

I am normally not a big fan of the darker mojaves but that one looks sweet! Great collection. Keep the pics coming.

This is a photo of a female blushing mojo I hatched out last year.

Talk about a whacked out pattern.

I see a "G" and part of the Superman logo...Cool. I have a female mojave with a big "G" on her side. That's how I tell her apart from my male. LOL
