Baja died

isa3324ky Mar 16, 2008 03:31 AM

I found Baja dead this morning. We moved her to my room away from the window and people. Followed the instructions. Soaked her. Left her alone. Just gave her fresh water Sat. Was going to try to feed her today. Brandon,my son, will be devistated. I guess mites had done too much damage? We sure enjoyed her. Thank you so much for your help. Jen

I do not believe a case of mites would be the killer here. Perhaps it was internal parasites? A necropsy would tell you more.

Could be. We treated the mites 3x. Was suggested that she could have a ri. due to the mites & treatment. She didn't have some of the signs but acted wierd. A great loss to our family.

What type of mite treatment did you use? If not used correctly, "mite sprays" can be dangerous to the snake too!

no mite spray. Soaked in clear water then added Batadine and let soak for aprox 4 hrs. Then wiped head/face area w/minerial oil. This was the recommended treatment from the "Python Secrets" book author. Had to do this 3 diff.times. Also clearing and cleaning the tank/stuff.

I am sorry to hear about your loss.

Was Baja your only snake? If so, please don't let your loss discourage you from continuing to keep these great pets. You seem to really care for them, and it would be great to see you bring a new member into your family when you are ready!
