Got these guys a couple of years ago. Had some digestive issues towards the beginning and I was hesitant to use any meds as they were pretty young. So I fed them fairly infrequently and when I fed them, it was small meals.
As they began to grow and I became more comfortable feeding them larger meals, they'd give them back! So, I'd be right back where I was before. Eventually they got enough size on them for me to feel comfortable giving them some meds and as soon as I completed the cycles, I started increasing the size of the meals. And they've been growing!! Big time! They've probably doubled in size in 3 months. They're still small though. I could push them and get them to breed this coming season, but I'm going to take it easy on them and wait til '09/'10 to give 'em a try (if they're ready).
In retrospect, I'm glad I took the route that I did because according to someone I consider to be a fairly knowledgeable source, there were LOTS of digestive issues in the imported Panamanians that led to death in several of the animals. So, although they may be small, they're alive and they'll hopefully go on to produce LOTS of beautiful little babies for me!
