Still no eat, caught a quail today

Sunshine Mar 16, 2008 04:43 PM

Now what do I do? I waited nearly 2 hours and finally captured a quail. Also bought a frozen long tailed lizard, live fuzzy and a tiny live hopper. I think Frank mentioned scenting the mouse by putting the mouse into the quail's body cavity. probably should be deceased for that procedure

Accidently pulled out all it tail feathers....oops. I'd like to try scented with the live quail first so that it can be released....can it still fly without the tail feathers? I think it should be able to. How should I do the deed....pull it's head off? May just keep it frozen a while.

Any suggestions would be helpfull.

Thanks. and yes, another photocrappy for your viewing pleasure

Linda,
Step away from the Northern Bobwhite. Just let it go, it will make do without the tail feathers. How could you even entertain such a notion! Pull its head off. Just what in the hell goes on down there in Texas? Was this Franks idea? Frank........

It only took 30 minutes before the neighbor cats scared the quail in a crate on the porch. Took about 30 more minutes for me to drive it back where I got it from.

I meant from a source like rodent pro. Although I would gladly rip it's head off for that purpose. I am a savage.

Linda some times domestic mice don't do it. Even the slime from a live tadpole from your local pet store would work and you wouldn't have to kill anything.

I am sorry I disagree with your opinion about if it won't eat mice then it won't eat. May as well step on it then. That doesn't bother me either I could just feed it to my kingsnake.

If anyone has a problem with this go watch the Lion King and leave me alone (evil grin).

I have killed many animals in my life. But never a Dove or a Crow go figure. lol

otherwise you'll burn the little tad's skin (slime coat like fish)

I can send you some frozen ones overnight if you'll send me a label.

I'm gonna keep using the mice, if thing won't eat, I guess it just won't eat.

Offer's open if you change your mind. I've always got them in the freezer, they're 2 week old ones from Rodent Pro.

Sorry the little guy's being so frustrating. Maybe a pinkie head would work? Still too weak to force feed?
