I am a painter living and working in New York City. Like most folks who have chosen to pursue a career in the fine arts, I am looking for ways to augment my income. An avid herp enthusiast and a quick study, I am hoping you may be able to point me in the direction of some good introductory job possibilities.
I realize this forum is not a human resources department and that you may feel put upon by my request. I apologize if this is the case. That said, you should understand that I am a very hard worker and I will do nearly anything to work with reptiles or amphibians. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find a web site or publication with herp job listings -- excluding Partners in Reptile and Amphibian Conservation, (PARC), which has only a very few posted -- and I am determined to find a position in this field.
When I was quite young, a juvenile Black Rat Snake fell out of some low hanging tree branches and landed on my head. Ever since that day, I have been a great fan of reptiles, particularly snakes. Over the years, through the reading of books and periodicals, I have learned much about these incredible animals. To find a job working with them, or with an organization that dealt with the dissemination herpetological information, would be a dream.
I have pasted my resume into the body of this email. I am also a writer and have been published in numerous newspapers and several national magazines (The New Yorker and Harper's). Please contact me if you think you can help or have any suggestions.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Christopher Reiger
