Bamboo question--

althea Mar 16, 2008 11:42 PM

Hello--
I've received some nice lengths and diameters of bamboo, harvested from a neighbor's yard. We all are pesticide/herbicide free in our area, which is why the bamboo went crazy in the first place. I'd like to include the bamboo as climbing branches/perches in my asian ratsnake enclosures. After removing the fronds, I scrubbed the bamboo lengths with Novalsan. What else should I do to prepare/preserve it? The lengths are at different stages of drying out--some browner than others.

Thanks for any input!

With anything from outside, I usually throw it in the oven for 20 minutes at like 200 degrees at a time and usually do it at least three times ( heat it up then let it cool ) for the thicker pieces... I'm not sure what the flash point/ignition point is for bamboo... gotta love google for the answer to that...
