heating pad on wood

JeffK Mar 17, 2008 11:28 AM

is it okay to put a heating pad on ply wood? im building a stand to hold 6 10gallon tanks that will house leopard geckos and will placing the tanks directly on the plywood with a heating pad. also is there any risk of the heating pad getting the wood so hot that willl cause a fire. if so what kind of materal can i put between the wood and the pad.

why not use flexwatt or heat cable in the plywood. You could router it in and put pvc over it.

The ignition point of plywood is typically alot higher than the temperature of any herp-related heat pad. However, I would still consider a low-watt density heater like Cobra heat pads or Flexwatt or Ultratherm heat pads vs ZooMed.
