It's Not Easy Being Green

mheidka Mar 17, 2008 05:44 PM

Well, it's no secret that I'm a bit of a green thayeri fanatic, and I've been noticing something over the last couple of years. It seems to me that all the greenish thayeri that are females turn olive-colored or dark green, and the males turn or stay light green. Makes me wonder if the the genes for green coloration are sex-linked.

For all of you that have kept green thayeri, have you noticed this to be the case as well?

Perhaps the exception is with yellowish-green thayeri. Here are photos of a few yellow/green ones I have...

Well, I don't have an answer for you, but those are some exceptional Thayeri!

I remember that pair with the bow-tie babies being offered for sale. You swooped out from under me on those! I had just e-mailed the guy that I wanted them and he said... ohh you just missed them! LOL!! At least I know where they went!! Perhaps I can snag a dotted or bowtie pair from you in the future??
