new coxi question

jimfmcdonald Mar 17, 2008 08:14 PM

My first coxi babies just hatched! Can someone tell me if there is a typical looking coxi as well as a nontypical looking kind? My female and one of the new babies have the black lines that connect at the back of the neck and the adult male and the other babies don't. Is there a preferred look ? And if so what ones would be the higher priced if there is a price difference? Thanks.

JIM

Congrats Jim. I've seen wide and thin banded babies and ones where the bands connect at the neck and not. The two I hatched this year were different much in the same way. From what I have seen the price are pretty much the same on the babies. I think the most unusual one I saw hatched was one that pro exotics hatched (Robyn posted it) that had black stripes that connected 4 or 5 places down the back which made it look much like one of the other subspecies. Maybe Robyn will see this and post the pic of the hatchling I am talking about. Robyn???

All of the babies are beautiful--congratulations! It seems more a matter of personal preference than typical/atypical, since animals both with and without the black on the neck show up in the hobby. Just my opinion--it depends upon the overall "look" of a particular animal.

congrats on the hatch!

the banding behind the head is common, sometimes it is there, sometimes not. one additional band is also pretty common.

we have played around with breeding multiple banded animals together, and last year we hatched some 8 and 9 banded Coxi, i suppose i need to do updated pics, but here are the hatchling pics : )
