Doesnt want to eat

DrBubbleBerry Mar 17, 2008 09:26 PM

I know about how ball pythons can go off of eating for a while. In the past I owned about 135 Ball Pythons that I was breeding and none of them went off feeding. Its something that Ive never had to deal with except for a few females who stopped because they where gravide or breeding..

But this female that I got from a guy for free will not eat.. Im starting to think this is the reason why he gave her up. So I first put her in a box to eat, nothing. I put her back and waited 20 mins and put the rat in, nothing.. Waited 2 hours and turned off all lights and then put the rat back in... Nothing...

So Im stumped.. I think I should of gotten a mouse from the pet store because the guy told me she eats mice.. But me being thick headed wanted to see if she'd take a real small rat.

Im not going to interact with her for about 4 weeks until shes completely settled and used to my rutine and then get a mouse and see what happens. Maybe shes stressed who knows..

Any help or ideas as to what I should try and do would be great!

Thanks

Samantha

the snake doesn't look too thin so I wouldn't worry too much about it. maybe try the mouse or if you have access to a soft fur rat try that. I just recently got one of my females to eat this past week, she had been off food for about 4 months. she refused everything but the soft fur rat. also you could try keeping it in a smaller enclosure so it feels more secure.
