OT enclosure size for snakes...

FRoberts Mar 18, 2008 03:47 AM

I know we think our snakes need lots of room to be properly maintained...I am taking the "veal" approach into consideration.

Do ya think this enclosure is too small ?

I am still trying to figure out the problem with water bowl placement.

Any ideas ?

I forgot to mention.

I would also like to incorporate a climbing branch or two into the setup to make it as natural as possible. I have ordered a misting system to solve the water issue.

the temp gradient, should be warmer at one end and cooler at the other so the snake can move around to adjust the temps of various parts of it's body.

That site cracks me up every time I see it.

FRoberts Mar 19, 2008 07:51 AM

Now that's crazy.

Well that is the best web page I have seen since "Bert is Evil". This one is 10 times funnier.

So you are correct in the fact I liked that web page. I will link it from my page I am making.

I am a Professional type of persona, that it is blatantly obvious.

Thanks for a good laugh Jeff.

(PS I like cats and birds as well)

Frank,
Personally, I think the enclosure shown is a tad too big. I can just see the bottom of the tub through the coils of the snake. If you go down a size you won't have to worry about a drinking bowl; water can be poured on the snake and it will be able to drink what's pooled on its body (like some arboreal snakes do).
Climbing options are easy; once a month slide the tub out and jam a branch between some coils. Voila!
Rack em up baby!!

FRoberts Mar 19, 2008 07:36 AM

seriouslt if I can't get the branches in the enclosure I'd just rather bypass them all together.

Apparently MANY people here have a interesting sense of humor. Too many people take humor too seriously. Common folks there only kittens.

I emailed the webmaster but got it bounced back. Damn...

Fwd: Help...Bonsai Kitten tampering...Please respond!!!!

Help....

I have a very serious problem with my Bonsai Kitten...

Apparently a friend of mine is a member of PETA. While he thought he was doing my little "Bonsai" a favor. (BTW with proper trimming they never get to be cats). He took nail polish remover and well you know what he did with it.

Without the super glue intact. I obviously would have run into a serious problem. At first I didn't think so because of reroute, but it started seeping regardless. (It should be noted that I did drop it a few times when I first got it).

In a very excited state I wiped the seep dry (it was still tacky though) and fortuitously I had a good sided wad of chewing gum in my mouth and simply made quick use of it.

As a side note my other friend think's it's a Parrot and he just sits in front of the damn thing and repeats the word "Bubbleisious!! " Its bleeping annoying to be honest.

I may have missed this scenario on your site. Could you please elaborate on a more proper way of dealing with this. The quick fix looks like it is holding but really at certain angles is not the most esthetically pleasing. Looks like a tumor no matter what color you paint it.

Please get back to me ASAP!!!
