Whats on your Wishlist for the coming year/s

hogboy Aug 28, 2003 05:47 PM

At the top of mine would be Prasina and frenata.
And i still have a hankering to get some Gonyosoma's again,
they really are an under kept species.
Also whats everyones favourite ratsnake, forget the financial value, which one gives you the most pleasure?

I would say my wishlist would be, for 'ratsankes', Bogertophis Rosalie. I'd also like to see some CB Gonysoma in the mix.

For me, my favorite snakes would have to be my pair of CB Philodryas Aestivus, just so active and interesting.

Feel free to post more pics of that snake. It's pretty cool looking and looks like a cross bt. a rat and a racer, except for the rough scales. Actually it looks a lot like the rough green snake, Opheodrys(?) aestivus.

My wish list has Gonyosoma frenata on it. I also would like to have more Mandarins (Sichuan and Vietnamese and maybe Taiwans), and leopard snakes, and more Pantherophis guttata meahllmorum, and other N.A. ratsnakes, and some kingsnakes too, like Santa Rita pyros. I also think there's always room for new species and some areas have not been explored enough, like Africa and South America.

I believe snakes have several kinds of intrinsic values, like their beauty and economic value, of course, but they also have scientific and their pet value, I call pet potential. I like my Russians, dione, bimacs, situla, emoryi, and different kings best as pets, and the Mandarins and conspics best for beauty, value, and interest. Other snakes have lots of these values too and are very important in their own right. I like the pyros because you can find them in the wild, beauty, and interesting ecology. The same goes for other kings and rats, such as Baird's and Trans-Pecos, for instance.

There's going to be lots of different answers for the favorite snake question, so there's lots of different favorite snakes.

I like that Philodryas and would like to know more, also. It looks like it could be a type of ratsnake to me, so I think you could post some things about it here.

Thanks....TC.

Too many to list them all. LOL. I love my Mandarins but I would have to say the most awesome ratsnake I have ever seen is the Japanese Forest ratsnake. ( e. conspicillata). I saw my very first one in person at the Daytona expo this month and they are far more beautiful in person than pictures can even show.
