Good luck with that! I've personally never tried it or thought to, so let us know how it turns out. I can't imagine it being a good thing?

The chlorine itself is not going to harm your lizard. Although I saw a researcher do a talk on tortoises once and he mentioned a hypothesis he had that indicated a link between chlorinated water and increased levels of salmonella in chelonians due to chlorine killing of intestinal fauna in the turtles. Granted monitors are not turtles and there insides are different but the guy did make some sense and I figured I'd mention it any way as it was kind of interesting. My real question however would be WHY do you want to put your water in your swimming pool. You will most likely only end up traumatizing your monitor and there is always the chance that it could escape. I can tell you first hand that even large waters are a lot faster than you think they are. You would be better of long term if you built a cage that could accomidate a large pool, I know that sounds nuts on the surface. But as small as they are compared to an adult water some of the LARGER sized ornamental ponds will work to a point and they are better than nothing. It is definitely a better option than using your pool. As cool as that Matthew Broderick movie is it is only a movie.
