Size Refference

These boys are both 3 yr olds. The Anery is pure Colombian, and the other is pure Honduran.

Quite a difference eh? I'm liking these little guys a lot. I think I want more.

Thanks for looking!

You know, my Corn Islands are like that CA.
Very slender. Very quick to flee. Don't eat much. More like a Ratsnake than a Boa (except for the appetite).
I have a few other CA's like that, too.
I've got a male Nic. that is so shy and retiring.
They all seem quite a bit different than your typical Boa constrictor.

Hey John,
Have you noticed a difference in the feel of their scales? I noticed it on my Adult Hog female right away, and now this male Honduran is getting a different "texture" to his scales as well. Wondering if any of your insular Boa feel like that? Or maybe I'm just nuts? LOL

Thanks! These little guys are ways cool. Might have to phase out my Colombian stash and get some CA insular varieties too.

I blame My new addiction on Tom BTW.

I don't know if it's the scales or not, but I know there is something very different about the way they feel. It may be musculature. They just move so much more gracefully. They are much more fluid in their motion.
The only scalation difference by species I ever noticed are the somewhat larger heavier scales of the Dumeril's.
Sometimes you have individual's with non-normal conical scalation. That is a sign of weight loss and dehydration. A sign of a somewhat long term husbandry/health issue.

Well, the male has gone off feed for a couple months, but didn't lose any weight over it. (breeding season blues) He drinks plenty, and I'm positive it's not a dehydration thing. Just a different feel. Not as "slick" feeling as My Colombians.

Anyway, I was just curious. The male didn't really feel like that until this last half a year maybe. I chalked it up to maturity so far. I think. LOL

I have read it before somewhere, but was curious as to others experiences.

Thanks for the response.
Rick
