Ball Problems

stky55 Aug 28, 2003 06:07 PM

my ball seems to be acting very strangly for the past 2 weeks. he usually moves about his cage daily, mostly at night, and seems to enjoy his water dish and climbing log. well about a month ago i moved, and after i put him back in his cage with some new substrate he started to burrow, which he has never done before. now, he has tipped over a plastic log and crawled inside and will not come out. he hasnt touched his water dish or heat pad in at least a week. i definatly do not feed him in his tank, but i thought that might draw him out. of course, he crawled half way out, ate the rat, and retreated back inside. i am worried about his digestion now, because the doesnt seem to be any feces in the log or the cage.

maybe the new substrate bothers him?
or maybe there are not enough hide spots in his cage?
anyone ever have these problems before???
what could be wrong?

He sounds stressed. When did you move? Recently? Probably the combination of moving, and changing his cage messed with his head a bit. Give him a week or so, maybe give him his "old" substrate back until he adjusts to the move and see how it goes. Also, a fecal and/or trip to the vet never hurt.
