I'm Back !!!!

dsreptiel Mar 18, 2008 10:00 PM

HI to all of you . Well after a long battle to recover from a devastating house fire last year we have finally gotten in to a more permanent home . And starting to get back to a some what of a normal life , at least as normal as it was before the fire ! But it has been hard just replacing some of the things that we had before and luxury items have had to wait ,like replacing my computers . I have lost all of my e-mail addresses and phone # that I had on file in my laptop .And if anyone has Christy Talbert ‘s e-mail address I really need to contact her. Any way It is really good to be back!!!! . Thanks David of DS Reptile Rescue , Removal & Rehabilitation

Welcome back and I know how you must feel. 2 years ago our apartment complex caught fire and we lost all 135 of our snakes.. Its hard. The cause of the fire was a neighbor who left a candle lit by the window sill... I lost my female IMG...

But welcome again and I hope all is well!

Everything over here is crazy! Got school three days a week, I work the other four, started up a rat breeding thing in addition to the snakes...started acquiring more reptiles, even though I probably shouldn't... Enjoying it though! I have the fattest, cutest little white's tree frog now. And an angry orange spider.

Did your animals make it through the fire with you? I hope they did.

Wass the fire in anyway related to the keeping of reptiles. Is there a lesson to be learned here.
Thanks Mike

it was a short in the wirers in the braker box or just out side of it . And no it was in no way related to keeping Reptiles .

I once worked in construction many moons ago and still help friends that need it from time to time but this is why I am so diligent when it comes to the wiring in my house. There is so much shoty work being done out there, you would be amazed at how many fires are caused by this, when we moved in here there were nights I just could not sleep because of my fear of an electrical fire, when I slammed the garage dore the kitchen lights would turn off, Slam it again and they would turn back on. what a mess. Sorry to hear about it. I am very sorry to hear about it, fires are never a fun thing to go through. I saw no mention of your snakes, did they make it?

You'd be surprised how many Fire Marshalls are quick to blame residential fires on "faulty" wiring. Not to say it doesn't happen ( It does and it's very real ), but being an electrician and having talked to these guys, a fire that doesn't have any obvious signs of accelerant is usually ruled electrical. Just my two cents and opinion

dsreptiel Mar 21, 2008 12:04 AM

I wish I could say it wasn’t the wiring but the fact is that in the breaker box and in the wall behind it was the only places in the hole house were the wirers were burnt almost and in some cases all the way threw . So I say it was the wiring . David
