Switching to rats

CFlowers Mar 19, 2008 01:39 AM

I am acquiring some female Bloods soon in a trade. The owner has been feeding f/y mice and says they wont take f/t rat pups.
So can you give me some advise on how to make the switch?
Thanks
Chris

Yes, depending on age, you can also try weanling rats if not then feed them jumbo mice and alternatively offer rats. Eventually they want bigger prey so it is usually not a problem switching them over.

Thaw a mouse out with a rat. Do that a few times and it should take rats with gusto thereafter. You could also use dirty mouse shavings to thaw the rat with.
