fairly white pale milk

mike_panic Mar 19, 2008 08:49 AM

Hey guys. I'm not sure if I posted this guy yet. He just shed today and is really nicely white. Of course, this Cherry Cty male is from Jeff Hardwick. I would love if he stayed this white but I know its wishful thinking. Thanks for looking. Mike Panichi

The adults are white, the sibs are white and there isn't a stitch of blush/haze/light yellow in the line.

Love to see the adults as I have been drooling on my keyboard over the youngsters!

That's a nice snake! I don't see much news-printing on the sides of that critter (you can usually pick up hints of it even in hatchlings), so you may be surprised at how clean it stays. As for the white... I'd expect a more yellow/cream out of that one, as hinted by the coloration in the anterior "white" bands. These observatios are just based on the photos, though, and they can be misleading. Keep us posted on the progress!

That snake is beyond striking. Is that spotting transferable(for lack of a better word) to offspring? Thanks for the advice. Mike

It's too early to tell if that's a genetic trait. That male is an 07 animal out of normal adults. He hatched from the only egg in that clutch to survive (not sure why, honestly). His mother is gravid again from the same male, so we'll have to see what pops out in 4 months or so. It's often suspected that this type of spotting in NA milks is the result of adverse incubation conditions - a theory that's supported by the survival of just the one egg, and the aberrant pattern of the hatchling it produced. Time will tell, but it sure would be cool if it does prove genetic!

Here's a group of Thomas Co., NE pales from last year:

Cole,
Man I love that snake! Even if the spotting isnt genetic, at least you get to look at that smokin animal every day.

Later,
Dan

Cool man, I should be down In a few weeks or so, I'll let you know. BTW, along with about 12 snakes so far, Eileen is also gravid.

Good looking neonate Mike, he looks to have it all working for him.
Open white nose- check. Small head cap with flecks of red in it- check. Thin saddles with thinning black boarders and the saddles don't touch the ventrals- check. Cross overs (which I tend to like)- check. And the ventrals show limited black- check. Aaaa...that would be one nice multistrata. Screamer? CHECKMATE! Nice one Mike.

It seems when the ventral is open white like yours shows, they tend to have less newsprinting as adults. Pretty early to say if it will be yellow or white as an adult, Cole and Shannon are probably right. Thanks for posting him, -Dell
