one more question

Hi all,
If I bred a northern pine 1.0, to a 0.1 patternless southern pine. Would the clutch be het? Or with the first clutch, would i see a combo of the two? Or when would i see a difference?
Thanks again -

They would be Mutt, het for Mutt.

Amen and Amen!

Please don't do this breeding. You would have mutts, and most pit keepers frown on hybrids.

Hybrid are a breeding between 2 different species. Breeding a northern and a southern would make an inter grade. Still undesirable but not a hybrid.

To the OP,

Please dont breed different sub species together. It makes for mutts and putting mixed genes into the captive market is a bad thing to do.

Thanks for correcting me!! You are right, and that is what I meant to say. So much for me posting while doing 3 things at once while rushing back to work!! LOL!

For what its worth, an intergrade is correctly referred to as a unique population of animals that occur naturally in the transitional zone where two subspecies ranges merge together.

In other words a cal king bred to a Florida king is not an intergrade. Some people refer to this as an unnatural cross or even a hybrid even though it may be within the same species complex.

Offspring resulting from the random pairing of a northern pine and a southern pine are not intergrades even if their natural ranges do over lap in places. Unless the snakes in question are representatives of a naturally intergrading population of animals they are not intergrades and mutts would be a better description.

Hey Billy,

If at all possible I plan on making it down again this year. I don't make many shows, but Daytona is always a good time and its nice catching up with everyone. Hope to see you there in August!
